It’s been a little while between One Night Stands, but this November we’ll be getting back in the game with one of our favourite bedfellows. The untouchable gentleman who’s conquered the Picnic all-night set not once, not twice, but thrice! We’re welcoming back the one and only Simon Caldwell.
Widely regarded as Sydney’s #1 DJ — heck, let’s say Australia! —he’s been delighting dancers all over the world for more than two decades with his stunning selections.
Jam Gallery is the spot / 9pm is the starting time / 10 is the tiny number of dollars for an early bird ticket / 4ever is how long you’ll remember this night.
On Sunday November 13 we’ll be hosting a twelve-hour long BYO party w/ Powder!
The afternoon will blend a mix of obscure electronic, funky jazz and rare afro into an evening of dark disco and out of the box house and techno. The eclectic line up has been inspired by Japanese producer & DJ Powder’s masterful ability to carefully curate a mishmash of music into the most spectacular mixes. We know our pretty city is chock-a-block full of talent so we’ve been searching Sydney high & low for the best ~LIVE~ electronic acts. This Sunday 6 November we proudly present to you James i.V
James i.V (aka Angus Mills) has been seen around town playing records with, and in support of his talented mates as part of the sadly defunct Percussion Lock and more recently under his own moniker. Experimental club explorations strongly influenced by his background as a sound designer, his music is reliant on melodic and harmonic repetition with roots in dub and techno.
An all-around lovely dude with talent for days – come watch James i.V at Cake Wines Cellar Door & support live electronic music COMPLETELY FREE.
Equally talented supports include:
This Sunday at Picnic Social, Sacha Mambo of Macadam Mambo is coming all the way from France to our new home at Cake Wines Cellar Door. He’ll be playing a four hour long extended set with Nite Fleit and Paul Jextra on support duties.
Most importantly – it’s FREE!
Sacha has spent 10+ years on a worldwide and ultra deep crate digging mission! He also cares little for the boundaries of genres so expect an eclectic mix of Afro, Disco, Techno, Jazz, House and everything in between.
See you Sunday for a very rare groove and a Rosé, or ten!
Time to march again! Following the first incredibly successful KSO rally back in February, it’s time to hit the streets again for round two. If you care about Sydney’s nightlife like we do, it’s extremely important to head down to Belmore Park at midday this Sunday, October 9th, and join in the protests against our state government’s backwards, anti-nightlife legislation.
Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Tell family young and old, acquaintances and definitely strangers. Send the message to as many people as you physically can! Also, if you’re in a real protesty mood, make up some (family friendly) signs to bring along on the day.
Head over to the Facebook event page for more information on the day and the cause. Help us to Keep Sydney Open!!
